Design Notes
We considered whether to use a constitutive or an inducible promoter for the transcription of the Synthase and ended up choosing to have it arabinose-induced to be able to control start time and location of the quorum sensing signal. Other consideration was regarding the strength of the Receptor's promoter, as a higher expression would lead to more sensitivity to non-cognate HSL signal binding. Unfortunately we were bound to what was possible with the distribution kit.
Source
The protein translated sequences are originally from Aliivibrio fischerii's quorum sensing pathway and other genetic elements like promoters come from various sources. All parts were available in the distribution kit.
